The Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumnae Chapter is growing by leaps and bounds and our meetings have moved to a new location! SM-LAC was presented the M.A.D.D. 2009 Outstanding Community Organization Award. During the 2009 Southern Region Sisterhood Luncheon at the 42nd Southern Regional Conference in Huntsville, Alabama, the chapter was awarded the Signature - Alumnae Chapter of the Year Award, as well as the Reclamation and Retention Award.  Approximately 3,000 Sorors from chapters within the dynamic Southern Region were on hand to witness this exciting event! Members of the Executive Committee, the Executive Board and the chapter cheered when SM-LAC's name was announced. Previously, SM-LAC was awarded the prestigious 2006 Chapter of the Year Award and the distinguished Legacy of Achievement Award in Educational Development during the 2006 Southern Region Sisterhood Luncheon at the 48th National Convention of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. We appreciate the recognition as we continue to strive for excellence in the community!    ____________________________                      SM-LAC 2008-2009 Southern Region Chapter of the Year!      ____________________________                       SM-LAC Step Team Wins the 2009 Allstate HBCU Step Showdown!   On September 25th at The Atlanta Civic Center, the Soul Stepping Sorors of SM-LAC took 1ST PLACE in the Allstate HBCU Step Showdown.   One of the many events supporting the 100 Black Men of Atlanta's FAMU vs. TSU Football Classic, the step team brought home first place and a prize check for $5,000!   The Step Team showed why they are red hot and on fire! as they performed for a capacity crowd, and brought home the first place trophy - a FIRST PLACE PRIZE FOR A FIRST PLACE TEAM!   We are so proud of the Step Team - More evidence of how we ROLL ON THE MOUNTAIN!!!   Allstate HBCU Step Showdown - September 25, 2009
