48th National Convention 2006 "RED ROSES" 
Congratulations go to...


Soror Denise Davis and the diligent Educational
Development Committee for preparing an
         outstanding committee scrapbook chronicling the
         2005-2006 DeltaAcademy, GEMS and
         Black College Tour.  Thanks to your efforts,
         we won the coveted Legacy of Achievement Award
         for Outstanding Programming in the area of
         Educational Development!

Soror Cynthia Moran for preparing our outstanding
Jewel Of the Mountain (JOM) Newsletter which was
         awarded an Honorable Mention during the 2006
         Southern Region Luncheon in Philadelphia, PA.
   
Soror Charlene McLendon and the dedicated Conference & Convention Committee for helping chapter sorors resolve convention registration issues
         and for organizing the sultry,relaxing, jazzy chapter
         dinner at Zanzibar Blue in Philadelphia, PA.

Sorors Deanna Draper, Soror Kim Manning, Soror Shawn Mitchell, Soror Roberta Walker, and their respective committees, for  preparing great
         scrapbooks for the Legacy Award competition.
         Your submissions were reviewed by many.
  
         
Continue the great work and we will surely
         bring home the gold next summer at regional.

2006 Summer "RED ROSES" Congratulations goes to...


 
Soror Fran Breakfield and the dynamic SM-LAC Diva Step Team for doing an outstanding job during the
         48th National Convention Step Show, 
         
Philadelphia Tribune, and for winning
          FIRST PLACE ($2,500) in the 2006 MEAC-SWAC
         Step Off Competition! You make us so proud!
         Thanks for all of your efforts!

 Soror Rachel Zeigler, who was recently named one of the highest performing principals in the State of
         Georgia by Governor Sonny Perdue.  We are very
         proud of you and your educational accomplishment! 
 

 Sorors Laticia Khalif, Soror Ayanna Card, Soror Tangee Hardnett, and the energetic Sisterhood
         Advance sub-committee for creating an exciting, 
         relaxing day of bonding and adventure during
         the Sisterhood Advance- 2006!
 

Soror Saundra Davis for successfully submitting the
         Spring 2006 SM-LAC Policy and Procedures revisions
         to  Soror Martha Scott-Lue, Scholarship & Standards, 
        Southern Region. Thanks to your efforts, our policy
        and procedure document was approved with,
        praise and compliments
.

Sorors Toni Johnson and Soror Traci Geter for
         enforcing financial policy and maintaining impeccable
         financial records.  Thanks to your efforts we received
         an excellent audit rating!

2006 May Grand Celebration "RED ROSES" Congratulations go to...


 
Soror Debra Ragland (Courtesy Chairperson) and the
          dedicated members of the Courtesy committee for
          an excellent-well organized celebration!  Your
          planning and attention to detail made this year's
          celebration another memorable SM-LAC event!

 Soror Arnea King-Cross (Hospitality Committee
         Chairperson) and the Hospitality Committee, for your
         patient, willing spirit to serve refreshments to sorors
         and guests not only at this celebration but also at all 
         the chapter meetings for the 2005-06 sororal year.

 
Soror Sonia Kennedy-Ladd
(Scholarship Chairperson),  Sorors Deborah Toatley,
         Soror Rosalind Dennis, and the Scholarship
         Committee members for a smooth, scholarship
         award distribution process that was well attended
         by both the parents and scholarship recipients.


Soror Susan McGhee,
Owner of Susan's Dance Studios, for providing the outstanding young
         dancers, who entertained us.

2006 April "RED ROSES" Congratulations go to...


Soror Dana White (Step Show Chair), Soror Fran Breakfield (Step Team Chair), the SM-LAC Step
         Team, and all of the Sorors who made the
         5th Annual All Alumni Step Show A HUGE,
         Star Quality Success!  WE did it again! 
         This was the BEST show ever!  Our step team
         did another phenomenal job of setting the 
         tone with their rendition of Coming To America
         SM-LAC Style!  Everyone enjoyed the fast paced,
         precision, costumes, and African flavor. 


Soror Darrylyn Swift (Debutante Chair), Soror Donna King (Debutante Co-Chair), and Soror Evette Peters 
         and the other dynamic, dedicated, Debutante
         Committee members for executing one of the most
         beautiful, elegant, best attended Debutante cotillions
         ever on March 25.  We had 625 in attendance!

 
Soror Cynthia D. Moran (Journalist) for not only producing another high quality newsletter, but for also obtaining, and programming the Touch Screen
         Voting Machines that were used to facilitate the
         voting process.  You have helped us to cross the
         "digital divide" in grand fashion!


Soror Stephanie Malone (Nominating Chair) and the Nominating Committee for organizing a smooth 
         process, which included a revised, profile sheet,
         presentation of nominees, and candidate
         qualifications.


Soror Sabrina McCorvey (Elections Chair) and the efficient Elections Committee for swiftly directing
         voters and providing them with the assistance
         needed to operate the machines in record
         breaking time! 

Sorors you have truly helped us to move further up the mountain as we continue our efforts to become the most efficient, effective chapter that we can possibly become!  Thank you again for the detailed planning and professionalism...and as Soror Gloria Traynum fittingly said it,  "THANKS" for the Delta pride that you exhibited in fulfilling your tasks.

Soror Rachel Zeigler, Founders Day (Chair) and the Founders Day Committee for a job well done by
        successfully organizing and executing the 
        BEST Founders Day Rededication Ceremony!


Soror J. B. Hilliard and Soror Frances Rucker-Bannister for setting up the ceremonial table!

Soror Veronica Allen, Soror Susan Searcy, and Soror Dennette Smith for creating a lovely SM-LAC
         PowerPoint presentation and operating the 
         reclamation table.

Soror Toni Johnson, Soror Gloria Traynum, Soror Angela Thompson, Soror Traci Geter,
         Soror Barbara Parker, and other hostesses who
         seated Sorors in a sisterly, orderly manner.

Soror Barbara Collier, Soror Denise Davis, Soror Diane Dunn, Soror Winifred Sheppard
         and Soror Rachel Zeigler for being articulate,
         polished, and stellar in the various roles
         they performed.

2006 January/February "RED ROSES" Congratulations
go to...


Soror Pamela Lee (Chair) and the Arts & Letters Committee for sucessfully organizing and
         executing the first SM-LAC "Art Burning" on
         Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the Waters Edge
         Clubhouse in Stone Mountain, Georgia. 
         This was an exquisite affair! 

Soror Tamara Young-King, member of the National Social Action Commission, for doing an outstanding
         job of moderating the panel discussion/workshop
         training at the 17th Annual Delta Days at the
         Nation's Capital meeting.

Soror Denise Peterson, TORCH Foundation (Chair) for elogquently arguing the case for re-authorizing the
         Voting Rights Act of 1965 before staffers for 
         Senator Johnny Isakson, Senator Saxby Chambliss,
         and Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney during
         presentations at the 17th Annual Delta Days at the
         Nation's Capital legislative visits.

Soror Darrylyn Swift (Chair), Soror Donna King (Co-Chair), and Debutante Committee members
         (Soror Rhea Rajkumar Smith, Soror Ambree Stancil,
         and Soror Eva Morgan) for serving as chaperones on
         the Debutante College Tour, February 17-20, to the
         campuses of the University of North Carolina,
         Duke University, Howard University,
         Georgetown University, and Hampton University.

2005 November/December "RED ROSES" Congratulations
 go to...

Soror Sonia Kennedy Ladd (Scholarship Chair) and the Scholarship Committee for an outstanding Financial Aid and Effective Writing Workshop held on  
         Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at the ELKS Ardmore
         Facility for Youth in Conyers, Georgia. 

Soror Shemeika Smith-Banks (Music Chair) for facilitating the annual Holiday celebration at Traditions Nursing Home in Lithonia, Georgia and
         successfully negotiating a fabulous deal for the
         51-inch Big Screen T.V. that was donated by our
         chapter to the residents.

Soror Denise Davis (Educational Development Chair) for securing DeKalb County Schools as an official community/business partner for SM-LAC!


Soror Denise Davis, Soror J.B. Hilliard (Delta Gems Sub-committee Chair), and the enthusiastic
         members of the "NEW" Delta Gems committee for
         a wonderful "Kick Off" 
program held Sunday,
         December 18th at Stone Mountain High School. 
         This was one of the largest turnouts for a public,
         non-fundraising event, in our chapter's history!
         We look forward to supporting their efforts as they
         work diligently to effectively mentor these young
         ladies!

         Step Show. 

Social Action Committee and Soror Ramunda Livingston for a successful Voter Registration Drive.

Soror Darrylyn Swift , Soror Rachael Zeigler, and the debutantes for completing an outstanding service project at a local shelter.

         Honorable Mention for SM-LAC!
