PINNACLE AWARD Soror Dana White Corresponding Secretary 2007-09 Step Show Chair 2005-07  Soror Dana White has served Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumnae Chapter (SM-LAC) on various committees over the years and has been involved with the All-Alumni Step Show since its inception.  Even though she was elected 2007-09 Corresponding Secretary, Soror White considers her continued service and involvement with the All-Alumni Step Show a valuable experience. The All-Alumni Step Show has grown to become the signature fundraiser and a premier social event in the metro-Atlanta area for SM-LAC.  Soror White states “It has been an honor to be involved with SM-LAC’s All Alumni Step Show as a committee member, Co-Chair, and Chair over the past six years.  I am proud that everyone’s contributions under my leadership made it possible for SM-LAC’s illustrious community programs to continue growing, making a real impact on our community service area.  Members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, are known for being about the business of public service and I am proud to continue in that tradition. Thank you, SM-LAC for recognizing my dedication to serve you and the community.”

FORTITUDE AWARD Soror Rachel Zeigler Debutante Chair 2007-09 Founders Day Chair 2005-07 Principal, Marbut Theme School - DeKalb County Schools Soror Rachel Zeigler was named one of the highest performing principals in the State of Georgia by Governor Sonny Perdue. Soror Zeigler's Educational Philosophy is that "Education is essential to the advancement and maintenance of a democratic society. Public education is the vehicle that provides the opportunity for all citizens to participate in the process. The goal of education is to provide a link between knowledge, ideas and concepts as they relate to life experiences and to establish a foundation for developing responsible contributing members of society." SPIRIT AWARD Soror Charlene McLendon Conference & Convention Chair 2005-07 Soror Charlene McLendon has served Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumnae Chapter (SM-LAC) during the past years as Conference and Convention Chair.  She is our personal "recruiter" for SM-LAC and dedicates her time to reclaiming all our sisters any and everywhere she goes.  In chapter meetings during the announcement of visitors, Soror McLendon's numerous counts of reclaimed sorors becomes a showdown of announcing to all, "I Gotcha Back Soror"!  She definitely has the "gift" for reaching out and touching many sorors in her every life's journey.

Mrs. Black Georgia USA 2007 Soror Lydia Howard  Soror Howard's Platform is Building Intolerance to child neglect and abuse and her Adopted Program is CHRIS KIDS - www.chriskids.org. Soror Howard stated that she ran for Mrs. Black Georgia USA so that she could have more available opportunities to speak out against child abuse and neglect.  She also affirmed that she can now use her title to advocate for the rights of children that are victims of abuse and neglect.  Soror Howard truly believes that the verse cited in the Bible, “If you spare the rod you spoil the child”, has become misunderstood and misused because a great herder knows that in dealing with a delicate sheep, the rod is used to GUIDE the sheep. Not ABUSE them.
